FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WHO: Susun S. Weed, herbalist
WHAT: Wild Weeds & Magical Plants
WHERE: Rowe Camp, Rowe, MA
WHEN : April 1-3, 2005 (Fri-Sun)

Teachers show us how to learn, but Susun's dramatic and colorful yet easy and friendly teaching style sets her apart. As a green witch, she approaches healing medicine as a living manifestation of the Goddess. She offers us a chance to get to know plants from the inside out, slowly, with the same respect and patience we show people who are revealing their personalities. When we open to the mysteries of the plant world and flow from the heart, when we honor the Earth and learn to heal with nourishment, compassionate listening, and simple ceremonies, then we are dancing in the Tao, spiraling through grief and joy, healing the Wise Woman Way.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Our weekend together will be created to satisfy your needs and desires. We will choose from a basket brimming with possibilities: weed walks, shamanic trances, hands on herbal medicine, plant lore, optimum nutrition, eating weeds (powerhouses of minerals), as well as singing, welcoming back the fairies, and touching the magic afoot. Susun delivers profound and practical advice as she entertains and delights. A joyous spirit and a powerful presence, she teaches with such confidence and clarity that some people feel shocked, even offended, but when they listen, they realize she doesn't teach what she hasn't experienced. Her main message is to reclaim our simplicity, to regain our connection with the earth by growing our own food, making our own medicines, loving each other well, and knowing how and when to use other forms of medicine for our benefit. Helping people and communities become more caring of each other is the essence of spirituality, enabling us to be the best we can be. You will take away a newfound confidence in your ability to use the earth's gifts of food, medicine, and pleasure to bring energy, power, and health back into yourself. Your health and your life will never be the same!

THE WISE WOMAN WAY

What is the Wise Woman Way? It is neither alternative nor orthodox medicine. Orthodox scientific medicine heals by fixing the machine. Alternative or heroic medicine heals by cleaning, by trying to get rid of what is dirty, bad, or wrong. The Wise Woman tradition, however, heals by nourishing the wholeness of the unique being. To the wise woman, all things are interconnected and already perfect. The task then is not to create perfection but to make ourselves available to it, to acknowledge and trust our bodies as perfect manifestations of our wholeness, accepting life and death, health and sickness as part of the spiral. The Wise Woman tradition is more than 50,000 years old. As a "backwards pioneer," Susun brings this ancient wisdom to our modern lives, saying "I speak for the earth. I am the voice of the plants, bringing the ways of the Ancient Grandmothers to the sacred sister spiral of today."
