Wise Woman Wisdom ...
THE FOOD of LOVE
by Sophie Breillat

THE FOOD of LOVE
by Roslyne Sophia Breillat
mentor at the Wise Woman University

Woman is the natural custodian of food and the natural custodian of love. Visionary Artist: Francene Hart For many aeons, gathering and preparing the nourishing and sustaining food of the earth has been a communal feminine activity that infuses the female spirit with the wild essence of the womb and the wild essence of the land.

Her innate capacity to nurture and give life through the flowing milk of her breasts, the crimson blood of her womb, the sensual passion of her lovemaking, the curvaceous shape of her body, was honoured in ancient cultures as the creative power of the Universal Mother. For her entire body naturally gathers loving nourishment into the deepest parts of her being and her bodyís abundant love feeds her babies, her lovers, her sisters, her family, her community, her tribe, her friends.

We are living in a world ruled by acquisition and greed, a forceful world that pollutes and destroys. It is a fast paced world that has created many wonderful technological inventions. And yet it is a world of separation that has lost touch with the natural rhythms of woman and the earth and an outwardly focussed world that ignores the stillness, silence and beauty of lifeís myriad mysteries. In this affluent world of excess consumerism and materialism, why are so many beautiful women starving?

And in this crazy world so overly obsessed with youth, why do six-year old girls suffer from anorexia and bulimia? What is forcing too many of our dear daughters, our dear sisters, our dear friends to live in a destructive hell of extreme dieting, exercising, vomiting and purging? Why do they strive to look like emaciated androgynous skeletons instead of simply resting in the luxuriant purity and beauty of the feminine essence? And why is it so very difficult for them to fully embrace the delicious sensual pleasure of their natural physical needs?

A womanís body is naturally curved and rounded like the earth. She innately flows with the cyclic rhythms of the moon, the tides, the seasons, the planets, the stars. Her body is the food of the earth, the food of love, the food of life. She nurtures her babies and her lovers with the fullness of her breasts, her belly, her heart, her womb. Her flesh is the flesh of love. And when her body is truly and deeply and passionately and sensuously loved she has no desire to deny her natural need for food. The female essence is as still as the forest, as wild as the storm, as strong as the mountains, as soft as a flower, as deep as the lake.

For She is formless and She is beyond all structures and form. And yet the structured ways of the masculine world teach her to measure, weigh, control and starve her body until she no longer knows her true purpose. How can she live harmoniously as the physical embodiment of the Earth Mother in a world that voraciously plunders the earth?

How can she rest sensuously and sweetly in the infinite power and mystery of her womb when myriad advertisements invasively order her to get rid of ìunwanted kilojoulesî and ìunwanted fatî, to be ìsleekî, to be ìsexyî, to starve her body, to starve her being? How can she drink freely from the exquisite beauty of lifeís delicious nectar when her cup overflows with the addictive seduction of western societyís ìlow fatî mentality?

The thousands of women in western society who experience disordered eating patterns come from many areas of life. They include the overworked corporate executive who is too stressed and too busy to eat and the isolated housewife who feeds on tranquillisers instead of balanced meals. They include the ambitious athlete or dancer whose striving for perfection has stopped her menstrual blood from flowing and the insecure teenager who is addicted to the latest dietary fads. And they include the idealistic woman dieting for ìspiritualî reasons that deny her bodyís real physical needs. What do all these women have in common? They are all being starved of love.

An eating disorder is never only about food. For an eating disorder is not simply an illness, but a graphic symptom of a disordered society that dishonours the creative, sensual and sexual power of the female essence and the beneficent spirit of the womb and of the earth. And it is a tragic symptom that is fuelled by many underlying psychological and emotional causes. The two most common forms of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

Although both are distressing to witness and experience, anorexia is the most damaging and the most life threatening. Beneath its obvious symptoms of excessive dieting, exercising, purging and fasting, anorexia thrives upon a complexity of secrecy and cunning.Visionary Artist: Francene Hart It has now reached epidemic proportions in western society, increasingly seducing many women and girls with its alluring power and its insidious determination to destroy both body and soul.

What causes a woman or girl to succumb to an eating disorderís insidious ways and its capacity to imprison her within its devious grasp? What causes her to willingly destroy her health, her wellbeing, her relationships, her vocation, her life, in favour of this slow and painful form of suicide? What causes her to relentlessly follow such harsh restrictions and rigid demands?

What causes her to surrender to such forceful manipulation of her body, her emotions, her psyche, her thoughts? What causes her to surrender to the strange power of something that is so alienated from her true feminine nature, so alienated from her sensuality, her passion, her love, from the earth, to something that has the capacity to close her womb and to close her heart?

BEING WOMAN - She of the Earth…

This course provides a sacred and nurturing space where woman can learn to surrender more deeply to the natural receptivity of the female psyche. Throughout this series of lessons she will learn to trust the innate flow of her intuitive nature and to listen more intimately to the wellspring of her inner source. And we will explore together how to live more fully as the embodiment of the feminine essence within the structures of a masculine civilisation.

This course is a series of lessons that honour the fluid nature of the female psyche. Woman has forgotten who she is and the world has forgotten who she is. Her female truth has become clouded and polluted like her beloved Mother Earth. She has imbibed so much maleness that she has lost confidence in the sweet mystery of her receptive nature. She has become angry, forceful and self-doubtful because she is not seen, heard or loved as the creative power of the feminine spirit. It is time for her to stop sleeping. It is time for her to awaken from the dream of unreality that diminishes her true power. It is time for her to become who she really is, in the deep, in her mystery, in her sacredness.
