Greetings from sunny San Diego!

Happy Birthday, Susun!!!

I am so delighted to send your these greetings that midnight has passed and
it's no longer February 8th! When we first met, during a Weed Walk at Su
Casa circa 1970-71, I was 16 or 17. Your penetrating earnestness captured my
attention (not to mention your aura! Those were big deals in those days.).
Over the years, I followed your research and teachings, exploring my own
herbal alliances in NYC (this sentence is less a nutshell and more like a
sesame seed!). I moved to these heavenly Catskills in 1992 and met you again
in 1994 at the Green Nations Gathering, gladdened to hear, once more, a
familiar yet greatly expanded voice.

Today I wish to express my admiration, love, respect, and deepest gratitude
for your wisdom and witchy influence over these many years. As I indulge in
my homemade motherwort and echinacea tinctures, as I wonder what the sudden
appearance of ginseng on my land means, and as I prepare myself for my
hysterectomy two weeks hence, I think of you daily and of the gifts you have
given us, so unselfishly, over these many years.

BIG UPS TO SUSUN!!! May you shine! May you be still and vibrant, according
to the rhythms of our astounding universe! May you enjoy many blessings as
you celebrate your amazing milestone. Six is round and open to so many
things. Six-0 magnifies in beautiful, round tones. Viva minerals and
matrixes, sunshine and lunar glow, puppies and kittens, eggs and chickens,
hail and kale, sand and grass. Viva Susun!

Happy 60th, and thank you again!

Amy

Just a note to wish you a happy birthday. I hope you are gifted all the joy
that you gift other people-not just your friends but all who are blessed
with your presence. May you enjoy many more years of all the blessings you
deserve.

Sending love to you,

Liz

Dear Susun:

Happy, Happy Birthday wherever you are! I hope you have been sipping
heavenly teas and enjoying massage and spiritual re-energizing! Enjoy!

Most Sincerely
Namaste
Elizabeth

Dear Susun,

Wow, you have some amazing things to say!

My name is Julie and I have recently started my diploma in Herbal Medicine at the Waikato Centre for Herbal Medicine in New Zealand. I have done an introductory course earlier on and have always had an interest in plants/herbal medicine/natural health…

Just today we all had the wonderful opportunity to view a video of you speaking about the three ways of thinking. Scientific, heroic, and wise woman. I felt the sudden urge to email you and tell you that I thought it was great, so did everyone in the class.
We are all wanting source it so we can show our partners/family/children and friends, I really think it made an impact on us all. Not to mention making us laugh.

Well I had better get on to my “homework” and I will be looking forward to reading or watching more of your work.

Thank you so much.
Julie

Dearest Susun,

I am wishing you a very Happy Birthday, belated though it may be.....I do hope that you had a wonderful peaceful day and that you raised a glass of bubbly for yourself and all those that you love.

My thoughts were with you briefly-I broke my toe just a day before your special day and I admit I was so wrapped up in all the ramifications, (Who would feed the chickens?!) I took no time to send you a message. Who would have thought that such a small thing like a toe could make such a huge impact on a life?? Ah, there's always a lesson.....

Please accept my apology for missing your birthday-may the Goddess continue to shine her face upon you and on all those that you love and all those that you have touched. May she bring you peace and bless you-
I send my greatest respect and my love,

Lori

Hi Susun

I am 54 and have done various courses on herbal medicine and how I wish they had been with you - I only discovered your books last year. What an inspiration to have such sensible accessible advice, especially on menopause and breast cancer…

Love to all at Wise Woman Centre and Ashtree

Barb.

Dear Wise Woman

Thanks for your great herbal ezine. I live in South Africa, and the seasons
are different, we are in mid summer now and everything is green and warm.
However, you can feel just a slight difference in the temperature from
December, and by April we will be well into Autumn.

Hope you have a wonderful birthday on 8 February and laugh a lot, I will
definitely ensure that I have a wonderful laugh on that day to share with
you. May you spend your birthday doing exactly what you want. I am glad to
hear that you are excited about growing older too. Older people have so
much wisdom and knowledge to share.

I am certainly looking forward to turning 40 next year.

Anyway have a wonderful day.

Best wishes
Colleen

Keep up the good word!
Thanks,

Dear Susun,

I ran across your website in my search for answers about making herbal infusions…. I have your book "Herbal for the Childbearing Years". I bought it when I was trying to get pregnant, but to be honest I was overwhelmed by the concept of making my own herbal teas. We are going to start trying to conceive again and I want to prepare my body. …
Thank you so much for your wonderful book and your website. I am determined to learn about using herbs to heal my family naturally…

Warmly,
Pamela

Hello Susun

I found your site by chance. I was looking for natural remedies for a condition
I thought I had. I suspected fibroids. Anyway I was really inspired just reading your site. I forwarded it to my sister who is younger than I but has a true love of nature as I do.
Thank you for having such wonderful information along with some comic relief
available for women.

Thank you once more sharing your wisdom through your website.
I have it on my desktop and know I will visit often to center myself
and know that I am not alone.......

Angela.

Dear Susun,

I was just speaking with a friend Roberta whom you saved from scars and skin grafts when she was badly burned in a gas stove accident almost 25 yrs ago. I remember calling you for advise as I left to visit her in the hospital where they were photographing her for proposed skin grafts. You instructed me to feed her fresh aloe and apply aloe to her burns many times a day and get her out of the hospital!

Following your instructions we got her out of there. The use of aloe left her with no scars. We are forever grateful to you and your sage advice.

It was great to hear you on WDST yesterday. Hearing your voice prompted me to finally get back to you with the results of your wise words.

Please include me in your mailing list for your e-zine.

Betty

Hi Susun and staff ! ! !

Blessed be to you all, and Green Blessings as well ! ! !
I've been re-reading through my copy of Menopausal Years (I bought this book about 10 years ago due to necessity of partial hysterectomy). I've been struck with your having been taught by a mentor of Native American descent about Gaia's changes coming up big time by around 2013. …

Thanks for the GREAT work you are doing in Herbalism, writing for Sage Woman, writing books to share the knowledge that you've learned...I've greatly enjoyed and appreciated what has been shared...it's also been needed for me, to learn, as I've been going through menopause and croning....YIPPEE!!!!

Again, my deepest thanks for your work, and for helping me to understand better how to plan ahead for the changes that are coming…

Dear Ms. Weed,

Your Childbearing Year book got me through a twin pregnancy after three early miscarriages. I've never told you how grateful I am. I have shared the book with newly pregnant women for years and no matter how "mainstream" they are, they always find something in your book that speaks to them.

Now I am in my menopausal years and I have been focusing, with your book…

Thank you for being there for me all these years!!

PS My babies were 6 weeks early and weighed 5-3 and 4-7, very healthy and still are today at 12 years old.

Shalom Ms. Weed,

I hope that this note finds you and your family well. I was intruduced to your book by John Galigher and it has been a true blessing in disguise. I was a little shocked at first, but then realized that you were talking to me.

My wife is now reading your book, and will start to put into practice your learnings as well into our life and that of our now 1 year old son Meir (Radiates/Shines) in Hebrew.

Hello Susun: ….

I live on the west coast of Canada, near …. I would like to tell you how much I appreciated owning your book on menopause when I first reached that stage in my life. I love to grow and harvest "weeds" and cultivated plants and I have learned lots of ways to stay healthy with plants and herbs. …. I often refer to your books of wisdom...my profession was one of a nurse but our medicalized answers to health are not always the right ones.

So once again thanks for your sensible and loving wisdom and please sign me up for your email newsletter.

Hi Susun,

I LOVE my nettle infusion, …. I'm 51, and
have just started to be vitally interested in herbalism and I am deeply
inspired by your philosophy of health and wholeness. Thank you so much!!

…. I used to have a house in Pine Plains New York, and
received my first true mystical communion from the Catskill Mountains over
there on the western horizon. Now I look at the Olympics.

Ditto

Dear Susun,

First of all, I would like to let you know how helpful your books have been
as I transitioned through Menopause. I am nearly 58 years old …
Sincerely,
Karen

Aloha Susun,

first of all you are an inspiration. I've been reading your stuff for years and trust you more than others. You are the first one I heard of that said no to soy. …. Lots of love, sun and hawaiian energy,

Lisa

Merry Meet, Susun!

I have successfully brewed & used your infusion & I thank you from the bottom of my once~exhausted body! ( I am a working RN, mom of 7~yes, SEVEN~wonderful but tiring children, with a husband who just don't understand!!)

Also wished to share with you my variation; my own special Green~Eyed~Witch recipe of the energy infusion:
1 Large handful dried Nettle
1 smaller handful Motherwort
1 cupped palmful freshly grated GingerRoot
1/2 stick cinnamon
Steep in boiled water in quart glass jar 4+ hours, or overnight (do NOT refrigerate until jar has cooled down!) Then add:
2~3 Tbs organic Honey
1/2 inch slice Lemon, squeezed & twisted & dropped right in!
Mmmmmmm, good!!
Can you tell that I learned to cook the old~fashioned way, from a Mum who used her hands to measure?
She learned from my Austrian Great~grandmother, who was known as a Healer, & possibly a witch!

Anyway, thanks again…
Blessed Be~
Amaranthe

I would love to receive your ezine.

I have several of Susun's books. Love them!
I had one I loved that was a story of 5 or 7 herbs/greens. When I went to get it out after I moved, it seems to have disappeared. In the book each green talked to the reader in stylized conversation. Once I got over the embarrassment of talking to plants, I truly loved it.

Do you know to which book I refer? I haven't seen it on websites either, and after one more search through my house (I guess I should call Monsieur Dandy-Lion and ask where he is hiding!) I want to get it replaced.
Thanks for all you do!
Kate

Hi Susun,

I just want to say you are wonderful. Thanks for doing your work and
bringing an alternative to allopathic medicine. It's so much needed in
today's world.

Many Blessings to you,

Shaeri

Blessings,

Please send me your newsletter!
Looking forward to it and I love your website and what you are doing with and for herbalists, etc.

Thank YOU So Much,

Hello,

I would love to be on the mailing list, I have been researching herbal programs and I defiantly want to take some classes with Susun. I am finally getting back into the herbs after too long of a time- I have two little boys, so the past few years have been full and beautiful and challenging!! I love herbs and feel drawn to learn more, I hope to start a small organic herbal farm in VT, once we move back this fall to buy land and finally our first home.

I went to Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies, years ago, and got to take a few classes from Susun, that was amazing and I will never forget her energy and passion for the plants! Well, enough of my babbling, thanks for listening and I hope to sign up for a correspondence class very soon, and I would love to do the apprenticeship week as well, someday, I'm just so excited to be on the herbal path once again, it feels like I'm home and that I never left!!-

Love and Blessings- Amy
